Broncos injury update: Jerry Jeudy returns to practice

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — Jerry Jeudy returned to practice Thursday on a limited basis, allowing the Broncos to breathe a sigh of relief after the emerging wide receiver dealt with an ankle injury that briefly forced him to leave Sunday’s game and Wednesday’s practice.
“It was painful,” Jeudy said of when he injured the ankle during the 51-14 loss to the Los Angeles Rams. But Jeudy did return.
“I started limping off the field. After a little while, it just calmed down, and I got back out there to do my thing,” Jeudy said.
He believes his departure from practice Wednesday was due to the same injury.
“I think it was from that, but I’m not really sure. I felt really good until I got that,” he said. “And I feel like the cold had something to do with it, too.”
It was also cold Thursday, but Jeudy had no apparent issues. The Broncos practiced outside in the wake of Wednesday night’s snowstorm and donned pads for the session.
“I like football practice. I like football practice, and we’re going to have pads on today,” interim coach Jerry Rosburg said. “We’re allowed to have pads on today. We have a padded practice remaining and I addressed this with the team directly.
“It’s about whatever we need to do this week to be able to compete with a formidable opponent. It’s important to me that I see these guys in pads.”
Five Broncos did not practice Thursday:
- OT Calvin Anderson (ankle)
- Edge rusher Baron Browning (back)
- TE Greg Dulcich (hamstring)
- Edge rusher Randy Gregory (knee)
- DL D.J. Jones (knee)
Jones is one of just three Broncos to start every game this season.
Returning to practice Thursday after sitting out Wednesday’s work were:
- S Kareem Jackson (rest day – age)
- RB Latavius Murray (rest day – age)
- NT Mike Purcell (elbow)
- OT Billy Turner (no injury, personal reasons)
- DE DeShawn Williams (no injury, personal reasons)
- CB K’Waun Williams (knee)
