Without playoff potential Broncos will evaluate everyone in final four games

Dec 15, 2022, 12:02 PM

The Denver Broncos were knocked out of playoff contention this past Sunday but they still have a month of football left… so now what?

First-year head coach Nathaniel Hackett and the organization will use this month to evaluate everyone and everything. Denver will have to figure out which players from this 3-10 team they’ll want to keep and tabulate just exactly what type of schemes have been successful. Sadly when you get bounced so quickly the answers to that questions prove that not much has worked. Yet when you do get eliminated so quickly, you get a jump on the offseason and a lot of time to try new things.

This is where the Broncos will be when they face the Cardinals on Sunday and follow up against the Rams, Chiefs and Chargers.

“I think everything’s being evaluated always every single person in the organization is always being evaluated, whether you’re in the playoffs or not,” Hackett said Thursday. “It’s about how you handle everything, how you approach your job.”

The struggling coach leading the failed team continued by talking about attitude in this final month.

“One of the things that we’ve talked a lot about is control, what we can control,” Hackett said. “You’re always going to control your attitude, your effort. That’s something that Russ (Wilson) talks about all the time. Every single day how you attack the field on practices and meetings and everything. So it is a challenge. It’s hard when you’re not. You don’t have a chance to go to the playoffs. But we are professionals and we’re out here to win every day.”

Jobs for the 2023 season are no doubt on the line over the next month. Whether or not those jobs will be with the Broncos is something all of us will find out in the future.
