The Broncos have begun the ‘process’ of evaluating their uniforms

The Broncos aren’t getting new uniforms — at least, not yet.

But they have begun the process of soliciting opinions from their fans regarding what they wear.

Calling it a “one- to two-year exploration process,” the team sent out a survey to season-ticket holders and those on the waiting list to solicit their opinions on the team’s uniforms.

“Throughout this process, we will collect feedback from our fans and work within the framework of NFL uniform policies and guidelines throughout this one— to two-year exploration process should we decide to make changes,” the email reads.

The Broncos’ current uniform template was unveiled in February 1997. It has come under scrutiny in recent years as “dated,” although the team’s accomplishments in the look are legion, including the franchise’s only three Super Bowl wins. The template originally had navy-blue and white jerseys. In 2002, the Broncos debuted an orange jersey in that design. It became the Broncos’ primary home jersey in 2012 after being worn as an alternate look in 2002, 2004 and from 2008-11.

In recent weeks, the uniform came under more scrutiny as the team wore blue pants with white jerseys for the first time. However, the design meant that the side-panel swooshes were mismatched. Denver will wear that uniform again this Sunday against Tennessee.

The Broncos will also wear their “Color Rush” uniforms next week against Las Vegas. That design includes the classic “D” logo in the current navy-and-orange color scheme. The stripe pattern on the helmet, sleeves and pants is reminiscent of the three-stripe patterns used from 1968-96, when the team wore the “D” on a royal-blue helmet.
