The injury Russell Wilson incurred last Sunday at Las Vegas led him to seek out a platelet-rich plasma injection Friday.

In the wake of the Broncos’ 12-9 overtime loss to the Indianapolis Colts, Wilson traveled to Los Angeles for the procedure, as first reported by NFL Network.

According to the NFL Network report, Wilson’s injury is “not usually” treated with an injection.

The report said that Wilson has a strained latissimus dorsi. The injury is considered to be akin to one with which Dallas quarterback Dak Prescott dealt in 2021. The latissimus dorsi is a muscle that stretches from the middle and lower back to behind the arm.

The injury often happens to baseball players, especially pitchers. For example, New York Mets pitcher Jacob deGrom has dealt with multiple strained lats in his career.

According to MLB.com, a Grade 1 lat strain usually requires a 2-to-3-week recovery time. A Grade 2 strain usually lands a player on the injured lost for roughly a month. Surgery is generally not needed for Grade 1 or Grade 2 strains. In a Grade 3 strain, the muscle ruptures, with a procedure considered necessary.

The degree of Wilson’s injury is not publicly known. But he is expected to play Oct. 17 at Los Angeles.

Wilson struggled in Thursday night’s loss. He threw two fourth-quarter interceptions and finished the game with a 54.9 passer rating that was the 12th-worst of his 179 career starts, including postseason. Wilson closed the game by attempting a pass to Courtland Sutton in heavy end-zone traffic, not throwing to a wide-open KJ Hamler. The final-play incompletion left Hamler frustrated; he subsequently threw his helmet to the ground in the end zone.

ALSO: KUSA-Ch. 9’s Mike Klis reported that long snapper Jacob Bobenmoyer suffered a hand/wrist injury and will miss a significant amount of time.

Bobenmoyer would become the Broncos’ 10th first-teamer currently dealing with an injury that has or will cost them game time. Edge rusher Randy Gregory, safety Justin Simmons, WR Tim Patrick and RB Javonte Williams are currently on injured reserve. CB Ronald Darby and LT Garett Bolles suffered season-ending injuries Sunday. ILB Josey Jewell is “week-to-week” with a knee strain. RG Quinn Meinerz hasn’t played since Week 1 because of a hamstring injury.  RT Billy Turner hasn’t taken a snap this season due to a knee injury.
