Emmanuel Sanders makes the leap into television

Sep 21, 2022, 11:41 AM | Updated: 11:45 am

It didn’t take long for Emmanuel Sanders to make his next gig official.

Just two weeks after he announced his retirement after 12 NFL seasons, NFL Network announced its hiring the former Broncos wide receiver as a studio analyst.

Sanders dropped the hint of his next career move when he met Denver-area media on Sept. 7, when he said he already had a television job lined up.

“I’m waiting on the contract to come,” Sanders said then, “but I will definitely get into television once it’s all said and done.”

Sanders’ transition to the broadcasting world comes as no surprise. During his five-plus Broncos seasons, he was among the team’s most loquacious and opinionated players.

He even joined Darren McKee in the 104.3 The Fan Studio for a memorable series of segments, responding in person to D-Mac’s pointed on-air critiques.

Sanders will be a part of the network’s “NFL GameDay Morning” show, which airs every Sunday morning at 7 a.m. MDT during the regular season. He will also be the co-host of a podcast, which is currently in development through the NFL’s podcast network.

But as Sanders takes on the national gig, he’ll do so based here in the Denver area. Although he played in San Francisco, New Orleans and Buffalo after the Broncos traded him in 2019, he returned to Colorado.
