Russell Wilson on contract: “Hopefully the rest of my career” with Broncos

If it’s up to Russell Wilson, he will play the rest of his career with the Denver Broncos.
Wilson met the media after the first day of training camp on Wednesday, and was asked about a possible extension. He has two years and $51 million left on his current deal. But with Kyler Murray getting a five-year, $230.5 million dollar deal from the Cardinals ($160 million guaranteed) and Lamar Jackson and the Ravens reportedly up next, attention has also shifted to Wilson.
“It’s awesome for them. Obviously, Kyler, great for him. Obviously Lamar, his situation, it has really nothing to do with me,” Wilson said. “I’m excited to be here, I know that. I know I want to be here for a long, long time. Hopefully the rest of my career. It’s been a blessing.”
That seems simple enough, right? Wilson wants to be in orange and blue for the next decade. It’s similar to what he said at his opening press conference, noting he wants to play 10-12 more years and win three or four more Super Bowls.
“To be here with George Paton, he’s been amazing to me. Coach Hackett, a first class, unbelievable mind,” Wilson added. “That’s my focus, my sole focus, and winning a Super Bowl with the Denver Broncos.”
The Broncos will get a new owner on August 9, when Robson Walton officially takes over, so that should probably be the first thing on his to do list — getting Wilson a new deal. It sounds like he’s ready to listen and get this thing done.
