Sunday’s 15-10 loss to Cincinnati didn’t end the Broncos playoff run, but it’s pretty close. Oddsmakers say the Broncos now have only a three precent chance of making the playoffs.
The team is 7-7 and in trouble. Vic Fangio is definitely in trouble after the season. The Broncos now know they have to be looking for a new starting quarterback.
It’s bad.
“We’re not out,” Fangio said. “We’re going to have to strap it up. We have to have a good week of practice and get ready for the next game.”
To make matters worse, Teddy Bridgewater had to be taken to the hospital because of a concussion. Fangio said on Monday the quarterback is likely not going to be able to play on Sunday against the Raiders. That puts Drew Lock as the starting quarterback.
Once again, he didn’t look good Sunday. He made a key fumble. He didn’t generate much offense. The fumble happened inside the Broncos 10-yard line in a critical part of the game.
Sure the defense looked good. It usually does. But the offense didn’t generate points.
“You’re not going to win many games scoring 10 points,” Fangio said. “We just never found any rhythm, especially in the passing game.”
Only three games remain and it sure looks as though there will be a lot of chances coming. Sunday’s loss was devastating.
