Kendall Hinton providing the Broncos depth at wide receiver

The depth and talent of the Denver Broncos receiving corps has been touted often this offseason, with Pro Football Focus ranking the group among the top units in the NFL.

On Tuesday, Broncos head coach Vic Fangio bolstered that argument, singling out second-year wide receiver Kendall Hinton as the player who has most caught his eye thus far through OTAs and minicamp.

“The guy that has had a really good camp from the start of OTAs until now has been Kendall,” Fangio said after Day 1 of mandatory minicamp. “He’s really looked good as a receiver, and he’s improved a lot. He’s in the hunt for one of those spots.”

Hinton, who originally signed with the Broncos as an undrafted free agent last August, is probably most known for his emergency performance under center last November after all four Denver quarterback were ruled ineligible due to COVID-19 protocols.

Originally a quarterback at Wake Forest before transitioning to wide receiver, Hinton completed just one pass, a 13-yard reception to tight end Noah Fant, while tossing two interceptions against the New Orleans Saints in the losing effort.

Quarterback Drew Lock said on Tuesday he’s seen Hinton be “super aggressive to the ball” thus far this offseason, and he feels as if he throws it to him in one-on-one situations, “he’s going to go get it.”

“… From receiver, to kind of on the team, to quarterback, to receiver, I mean, he’s definitely shown that he is here to work, and he really cares about the game of football,” Lock said.
