Could there be two position battles to watch for?

Mandatory minicamp started on Tuesday and it didn’t take long for Drew Lock and Melvin Gordon to get questions about their prospective positional battles.
Drew Lock — “This is my job and my life. I want this city and team to be successful and that won’t come without hard work.”

Lock and Teddy Bridgewater will continue to battle for that starting quarterback position, but Lock said there’s a lot more that went into his offseason this year.
“I’d say due to the studying and the work in this offseason, I’ve been able to be a lot more confident out there,” Lock told the media on Tuesday. “We’re making changes here and there. There’s just a lot that went into this whole offseason that I think, after the first couple weeks, we’re going to start seeing grow and grow and grow, including my confidence.”
Lock also said on Tuesday that his second year with offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur has been a huge help to his game.
“He’s been extremely cooperative with what I say I like or what I say I don’t like,” Lock said. “He’s meshed, and we’ve meshed really, really well this offseason and added a couple new things he think might fit the style of game that we play. It’s just been a really fun offseason to finally be able to finetune things.”
Gordon was a participant at minicamp despite there being questions on whether the running back would show up.
The Broncos traded up to draft running back Javonte Williams in the second round of the draft this year and with the departure of Phillip Lindsay has a solid chance to cement a starting role.
Gordon said on Tuesday that he is just focused on competing and wants to bring a winning mentality back to the Denver Broncos.
“The media is making it Javonte versus Melvin. Who’s going to start? This and that. It’s not really about that,” Gordon said. “It’s about us winning football games [and it’s] about us competing. I’m going to go out here and do what I need to do as a [running] back.”
A quarterback battle and potentially a running back battle. This year is going to be very entertaining.
