Yes, you read that right. The Denver Broncos were actually highlighted in a conversation from NFL Network as an underrated team coming into the 2021 season.
NFL Network’s James Jones said the Broncos should deserve some respect after everything they did last season.
“You look at what Denver did last year on defense, only allowing 21 touchdown passes against them, that was the second-best in the league,” Jones said. “And now you get a guy by the name of Von Miller back to make it harder on the quarterback and to put more pressure on the quarterback with [Bradley] Chubb.”
The Broncos entered the 2020 season with a lot of hope. Quarterback Drew Lock was coming off his 4-1 finish to his rookie season and the team added playmakers on both sides of the ball.
That hope didn’t last long as Miller and wide receiver Courtland Sutton were sidelined with injury. The team spent a fifth-straight January watching the playoffs from home.
However, new additions and players coming back from injury can give the Broncos a new outlook for the upcoming season.
“This team right here is a sleeper,” Jones said. “Teddy Bridgewater is coming in the building. You’ve got your star receiver in Courtland Sutton coming back and there’s a lot of positive things for this Denver team.”
Bridgewater is here to compete against Lock for the starting quarterback job. The wide receiver and cornerback positions are loaded with depth.
There is a lot to look forward to, and the Denver Broncos are ready to try and prove themselves once again.
“I think teams need to start showing some respect to them and stop sleeping on the Denver Broncos,” Jones said.
