May 25, 2021, 10:42 AM

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — The Denver Broncos have promoted Ray Jackson to Vice President of Player Development, General Manager George Paton announced on Tuesday.

Entering his seventh season with the Broncos, Jackson has served as the team’s Director of Player Development since 2015. He is in his 19th year working in a player development capacity in the NFL, spending 10 seasons (2005-14) as the director of player development with Pittsburgh after beginning his post-player career as the player development coordinator (2002-04) with Cleveland.

A graduate of Denver’s Montbello High School and former cornerback at Colorado State University, Jackson has been a part of three Super Bowl-winning teams during his NFL career. He was on staff during the Broncos’ victory in Super Bowl 50 (2015) as well as the Steelers’ wins in Super Bowl XLIII (2008) and XL (2005).

In his current role, Jackson is responsible for the Broncos’ off-the-field training and education for players through various club and league-supported initiatives as well as the team’s rookie transition program. He also facilitates several other support programs aimed at maximizing players’ potential and ability to achieve their goals on and off the field.

Selected by the Bills in the fifth round (156th overall) of the 1996 NFL Draft, Jackson played six seasons as a cornerback with Buffalo (1996-98) and Cleveland (1999-2001). He was elected into the Colorado State Hall of Fame in 2011 and is his alma mater’s all-time leader in career interceptions (20).
