Should the Packers make available reigning MVP Aaron Rodgers, the Denver Broncos might have the most attractive pieces to offer Green Bay.
ESPN staff writer Bill Barnwell wrote Tuesday that among the seven teams he believes are realistic suitors for the future Hall of Fame quarterback, the Broncos can make the most compelling offer.
According to Barnwell, Denver could send:
• CB Pat Surtain II
• WR Tim Patrick
• QB Drew Lock
• A 2022 first-round pick
• A 2023 first round pick
… in exchange for:
• QB Aaron Rodgers
• CB Eric Stokes
“The Packers get what amounts to three first-round picks as part of this deal, with the added benefits of Patrick and Lock to put the deal over the top,” Barnwell writes.
Just hours before Round 1 of this year’s NFL Draft last Thursday, ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter reported Rodgers is “so disgruntled with the Green Bay Packers that he has told some within the organization that he does not want to return to the team.”
On Saturday, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport said the Broncos “kept their options open” by not drafting quarterback Justin Fields at No. 9, instead opting to pick Surtain.
“As of now, Green Bay doesn’t seem to have returned any phone calls and given zero inclination that Rodgers would be traded. But at some point decisions have to be made,” Rapoport said. “It does seem like the Broncos kept their options open at quarterback in case.”
