Former Broncos running back Phillip Lindsay told SiriusXM it is time for Broncos quarterback Drew Lock to prove himself in the upcoming season.
Phillip Lindsay to Sirius XM on Drew Lock: “Drew holds his own future. Things have been set in place for him to be successful. He has to take advantage of it. … He needs to continue to develop, that’s on him. He’s in a battle between him and him. Nobody else.” #9sports

“Drew holds his own future,” Lindsay said during an appearance on SiriusXM NFL Radio, via 9News’ Mike Klis. “Things have been set in place for him to be successful. He has to take advantage of it. … He needs to continue to develop, that’s on him. He’s in a battle between him and him. Nobody else.”
Lock is coming into a pivotal third season that could very well be his last if his play doesn’t elevate to meet the Broncos’ expectations.
Many believe that Lock has been given more than his fair share of opportunities, but new general manager George Paton has stated many times that there will be competition in the quarterback room this offseason.
“We like Drew Lock. We have a plan in place and there’s free agency, there’s the draft, there’s trades, there’s a lot of ways to acquire a quarterback,” Paton said during a March press conference. “We do want to bring in competition. We are not going to force it.”
Lindsay told SiriusXM that Lock has more than enough pieces around him to be successful, but it’s up to him.
“He’s hungry. He’s hearing all this backlash and all this stuff. But for Drew it’s not about what everybody else says, it’s between him and him. If he can look in the mirror and find himself, he’s going to have a great career going forward.”
The Broncos will hopefully have a better product on the field come the 2021 season, but questions still remain where Paton’s “competition” will come from.
