McManus breaks news on own contract restructure

Apparently field goals aren’t the only thing in which Brandon McManus is deadly accurate.

On Friday, the Denver Broncos kicker broke news on his own contract dealings, posting to Twitter that he and the organization were converting his 2021 roster bonus into a signing bonus to clear cap space.

Then, just a few minutes later, McManus broke more news, adding defensive lineman Mike Purcell to the roster of Broncos converting bonuses to create cap space.

In addition to Brandon McManus, the Denver Broncos will also be converting Mike Purcells roster bonus into a signing bonus to create cap space, per @thekidmcmanus & @m_purcell64

Per Over the Cap, McManus’ roster bonus amounts to $2.925 million in 2021 while Purcell’s roster bonus is $1.76 million.

The news is perhaps a bit revealing about the Broncos offseason philosophy, leaving room for speculation about what the money could be used for. It comes less than a day after reports Denver was expected to make a “strong push” for free agent cornerback Kyle Fuller.
