Nikola Jokic earns back-to-back POW honors, first since Carmelo Anthony

For the second straight week, Nikola Jokic was named the NBA’s Western Conference Player of the Week, becoming the first Denver Nuggets player to do so since Carmelo Anthony in 2006.

It is the second time this season Jokic has walked away with the honors and the eighth time in his career, which is second most in Nuggets history.

Helping lead Denver to a 3-1 mark, Jokic averaged 30.8 points, 10.8 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 1.30 steals while shooting .623 from the field and .455 from three-point range.

With the effort, the Nuggets came away with a home victory over the Utah Jazz to snap their 11-game winning streak and two road wins, over the Dallas Mavericks and Miami Heat, to move into fourth in the conference at 12-8.

Against Utah specifically, Jokic, 25, put out one of the best efforts of his career with a career-high tying 47 points, 12 rebounds, five assists and two steals in 37 minutes.

In all 20 games so far this season, Jokic has produced a double-double, joining Bill Walton as just the second player since 1976 to do so in his first 20 games of the season.
