Broncos Injury Report: Good news and bad news heading into Week 2

Sep 12, 2019, 4:25 PM | Updated: 6:54 pm

Just one week into the season and injuries are beginning to pile up for the Broncos. Just this week, wide receiver Tim Patrick was moved to the team’s injured reserve list, sidelined perhaps for the season with a broken hand. In addition, other starters have appeared on the team’s injury list after the loss to the Raiders on Monday.

That said, there is some good news on the health front. By all accounts, Denver is getting closer to getting three starters back in the lineup.

Here’s who was listed on the Broncos official injury report as of Thursday, Sept. 12:

***

LIMITED PARTICIPATION

TODD DAVIS (ILB)
Injury – Calf
Note – Davis was injured on the first day of training camp, so any participation in practice is seen as a positive sign; the Broncos need him back in the middle of their defense

RON LEARY (RG)
Injury – Quadricep
Note – The oft-injured offensive lineman suffered what is hopefully a minor leg injury against Oakland, but his history makes any type of ailment a semi-major concern

BRYCE CALLAHAN (CB)
Injury – Foot
Note – Callahan continues to recover from an injury suffered during the Broncos practice at the stadium in mid-August, but there is optimism that they might play on Sunday

***

DID NOT PRACTICE

JA’WUAN JAMES (RT)
Injury – Knee
Note – The high-priced right tackle only played 10 snaps before getting hurt, but his knee injury won’t require surgery and could end up being a pain-tolerance equation

ANDY JANOVICH (FB)
Injury – Pectoral
Note – The Broncos starting fullback will not play against the Bears, but he is inching closer to returning; next week against the Packers is a possibility

JOSEPH JONES (ILB)
Injury – Tricep
Note – Injured in the Broncos preseason opener, Jones has yet to return to practice, but he appears to be closer to getting back on the field
