Rockies welcome baseball back to LoDo: Here’s what you need to know

The Colorado Rockies once again welcome baseball back to LoDo, as the club celebrates its 27th Opening Day against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Friday.

Aside from the start of the three-game set with the Nationa League West rivals, the Rockies will host Opening Day Fest on Blake Street and a number of pregame on-field ceremonies.

With Friday’s game sold out — and the remainder of the series likely to see large crowds — coupled with those attending the festivities downtown, fans should plan to be in the area at least an hour ahead of the 2:10 p.m. first pitch.

Here’s a quick rundown of the day’s festivities and important information:

Parking:

» Coors Field parking lots (located outside of the right field Gate A entrance) open at 9 a.m.

» Price: $17 every game day, and $16 in advance

Opening Day Fest:

» Located on Blake and 21st streets

» Will run from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

» The event will feature various activities for adults and children

Game Day Festivities:

» Noon: All gates to Coors Field open

» 1:20 p.m.: Pregame ceremonies begin

» First pitch by Rockies season ticket holder Rene Wineland

» First pitch by Denver police officer Steve Gameroz and Cpl. Richard Jaramillo

» First pitches by Petty Officer 3rd Class Kristen Esget of the U.S. Coast Guard and Staff Sgt. August O’Neill of the U.S. Air Force on behalf of Arrow Electronics

» Military March with Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines, accompanied by music by U.S. Air Force Stellar Brass

» Introductions of Los Angeles Dodgers and Colorado Rockies

» Honor guard and presentation of 300-by-150-foot flag

» National anthem performed by Stellar Brass with Master Sgt. Julie Bradley

» Flyover conducted by the 120th Fighter Squadron out of Buckley Air Force Base

» 2:06 p.m.: The Rockies take the field

» 2:10 p.m.: First pitch

» 7th-Inning Stretch: The Rockies will honor the Hero of the Game, Tech Sgt. Russell Clayton Cornell, and Master Sgt. Julie Bradley will perform “God Bless America”

» Mid-8th-inning break: The flyover pilots will be recognized
