Nicki Jhabvala, writer for The Athletic and 104.3 The Fan Insider sat in with D-Mac today!
In the first hour, D-Mac and Nicki dive into the latest from the collapse of the AAF. Will the league survive long enough to see a second season? Does the NFL even need a developmental league beyond the NCAA? D-Mac questions what he would sacrifice in order to be given Alex Smith’s career earnings. D-Mac and Nicki react to the comments from Bradley Chubb and Andy Janovich at Dove Valley today. D-Mac says some of their responses are flat out comical, rather than encouraging. Is there a chance for the Broncos to use Janovich efficiently this season? How will Vic Fangio’s time with Khalil Mack last season impact how he handles the Broncos’ defensive line unit?
In the second hour, D-Mac and Nicki discuss whether or not Andy Janovich truly has a place within the Broncos’ offense this year. Is he big enough to truly be effective? D-Mac says the leadership void in the Broncos’ post-Peyton Manning era has set them back tremendously. Who will/should emerge as the leader in the Broncos’ locker room this season? Nicki and D-Mac each give their picks. What qualities make up a good leader? D-Mac breaks down what he believes Joe Flacco must do in order to successfully lead the Broncos to the playoffs and beyond. Nicki calls D-Mac out for his lack of faith in the Nuggets after their bounce back win against the San Antonio Spurs last night.
In the third hour, D-Mac and Nicki examine the leadership void within the Broncos’ locker room in the years since Peyton Manning and Demarcus Ware left the team. Who on this roster is most capable of replacing the accountability and stability those two greats brought to the organization? With the draft just weeks away, will Chris Harris report to the team before they work out an extension for him? D-Mac reiterates his theory that the Baltimore Ravens manufactured the interest in Joe Flacco from other teams which caused the Broncos to pull the trigger. What is the best course of action for the Broncos regarding their first round pick? Can they get a generational player if they stay put, or should they trade back and try to build more draft capital?
