Schlereth: Garett Bolles faces same fate with Broncos as Paxton Lynch

If things don’t change quickly for Garett Bolles, Mark Schlereth said on Tuesday the Denver Broncos left tackle could be headed for the same fate as fellow former first-round pick Paxton Lynch.

The “Schlereth and Evans” co-host said that, much like the Broncos admitting a mistake by cutting Lynch last season, the club may be primed to do the same if Bolles doesn’t improve under Mike Munchak.

“This, to me, is rubber meets the road opportunity for him as well,” Schlereth said. “He’s either going to prove himself, under the tutelage of Mike Munchak, that he can play this game or it’s going to be time to move on.”

And in potentially releasing Bolles, the Broncos would create yet another hole needing to be filled this offseason, Schlereth said.

“There’s another hole that you’re going to have to fill. And, let’s face it. The draft is where you’re going to have to fill that,” Schlereth said.

Schlereth’s comments come after 104.3 The Fan host Orlando Franklin said last week that the Broncos need to “see it through” when it comes to Bolles, especially if he’s going to be working with the high-touted Munchak.

“You want him to be that guy that you just put out there that you do not worry about. The quarterback’s blindside. He’s just going to be a stud out there for years to come. And he has not shown the capability of doing that yet,” Franklin said. “But now you just went and got Mike Munchak. And Mike Munchak is going to give it his best.

“Garret Bolles is going to have to show that he was worth of being that first-round pick for the Denver Broncos two years ago.”
