DMac a ‘big fan’ of Broncos bringing back defensive end Malik Jackson

In an effort to recapture some of the magic of the 2015 Super Bowl-winning defense, the Denver Broncos might be wise to look at bringing back defensive end Malik Jackson, said “The Drive” co-host DMac on Friday.

After three seasons in Jacksonville, the Jaguars released Jackson last week, and DMac said he’s a “big fan” of bringing him back to Denver.

“I would say bring Malik back. Let’s get him here and try to rekindle the magic that you did have in 2015 for Super Bowl 50,” DMac said.

DMac said Jackson and fellow defensive end Derek Wolfe had a “natural tension and energy” that was “pretty special.”

“They were friendly, but I wouldn’t call them friends. There was a great sense of competition there. There was a vibe on the field there that made sense,” DMac said. “To me, Malik Jackson may be your equivalent of DeMarcus Ware, meaning there may be some intangibles there that are very unique to his situation with the Broncos that he might not get other places.”

DMac’s co-host Friday, Chad Brown, said that signing Jackson would bring back an attitude with the Broncos defensive line.

“Malik Jackson, I think, can bring some swagger back to the defensive line,” Brown said.

However, Brown said if the Broncos do bring Jackson back, the team will have to tailor its defense to that room.

“That has to be the focus of your defense,” Brown said. “You’re going to devote that kind of money, that kind of personality to that room, then you have to do things from a defensive perspective that allows those guys to be successful and have a role for all of them.
