Weddle: Flacco has ‘a bunch of years left,’ a ‘great addition’ to Broncos

Once touted as the answer at quarterback for the Denver Broncos, Case Keenum was shipped to the Washington Redskins on Thursday. But, the gun-slinger Denver traded for to replace Keenum, Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco, could be a real upgrade, according to his former teammate Eric Weddle.

On Thursday, the former Ravens safety told “Schlereth and Evans” that Flacco will be a “great addition” to the Broncos roster and he expects Denver to make a run with him under center.

“The guy’s a true pro. He’s a great teammate. And he’s still got a bunch of years left,” Weddle said. “Being at Mile High with that arm and a system that fits Joe, I wouldn’t be surprised if he goes on a run and you guys win a bunch of games.”

Weddle said that, in fact, he signed with the Ravens in the 2016 offseason because of the reputation Flacco had made for himself in terms of how he played well in big games and “turns into one of the best ever” when it’s playoff time.

“He finds ways to win games. And when I got here, everything that I thought of him was true,” Weddle said.

Not known as an emotionally-driven quarterback, Flacco isn’t much of a “rah-rah type of guy,” said Weddle, and is more “even-keel.” But that competitive drive remains, he said.

“He’s competitive. He cares,” Weddle said. “His personality isn’t so much of a rah-rah type of guy. He’s an even-keel (guy). He’s very focused. And the guys love him.”
