Bye calls Broncos LT Garett Bolles a ‘dark horse’ for the Pro Bowl in 2019

On Monday, Zach Bye compared Denver Broncos left tackle Garett Bolles to a sculptor looking at a block of marble: All they need is to “remove all the stuff in the way to get at the sculpture that they want.”

Under the guidance of new Broncos offensive line coach Mike Munchak, who has been touted by many as the authority at the position in the NFL, Bolles could be molded into the first-round talent that he was meant to be, the “Stokley and Zach” co-host said, even going as far as to say he could potentially be a “dark horse” for a Pro Bowl bid.

Bye said that Bolles has always had a “willingness to work,” but, for whatever reason, it hasn’t quite clicked yet.

“He grinds. He’s always working on technique, talking to Von (Miller),” said Bye’s co-host, Brandon Stokley.

However, “Schlereth and Evans” co-host Mark Schlereth said last week he doesn’t know if it will ever click for Bolles, saying “there are too many inconsistencies in his play.”

“I hope I’m wrong. I hope that he becomes great,” Schlereth said. “I hope that he continues to grow in his knowledge of the game and he cleans up his technique. And I hope that Mike Munchak does that for him.

“What I’ve seen so far, to me, that would be highly doubtful.”

Bye, though, has support in at least one other 104.3 The Fan host though, as “Pritchard and Cecil” co-host Mike Pritchard said earlier this month in an episode of “Ask Pritch” that Bolles “certainly has the talent” to be elite in the NFL.

“Garett Bolles, in college, was a certain player, but now in the National Football League, he needs to become a better player. And he hasn’t done that yet,” Pritchard said. “So, Mike Munchak, who is a Hall of Famer, who’s played a number of years in this league at a very, very high level, I think he can bring that out of Garett Bolles, but Garett Bolles has to be receptive of that.”
