Lammey: ‘No way in hell’ Broncos Country should like loss to Raiders

After being slated as the No. 14 pick in the 2019 NFL Draft heading into the Raiders game on Monday, the Denver Broncos inched closer to a Top 10 pick with a 27-14 loss on the road in Oakland.

The increase in draft position, however, is not an excuse for Broncos fans, who’d otherwise likely lament a loss to their longtime rivals, to praise dropping a game to the Raiders, said “Pritchard and Cecil” co-host Cecil Lammey on Tuesday.

“There is no way in hell you should be happy about losing to the Raiders. And don’t give me draft position. This is what drives me crazy,” Lammey said.

Lammey pointed to the minute jump in draft position, just two spots from the previous week, and the idea that there’s strong talent up and down the first round.

“Realize that Derwin James was the 17th pick last year,” Lammey said of the Los Angeles Chargers free safety, who made the Pro Bowl as a rookie. “There’s quality talent up and down that first round.”

And if the Broncos are targeting someone that ahead of its draft position, Lammey said, “Move up for the guy.”

“Don’t give me this, hey, you can go ahead and lose to the Raiders because, guess what, you’re going to have a better draft pick,” Lammey said. “I don’t like that.”
