After Harris injury, should the Broncos bring back ‘Pacman’ Jones?

Dec 2, 2018, 4:19 PM | Updated: 4:21 pm

It is unknown exactly how long Denver Broncos cornerback Chris Harris Jr. will remain out after suffering a fractured fibula in Sunday’s win against the Cincinnati Bengals, but 104.3 The Fan’s Orlando Franklin said the team is “probably going to have to bring somebody in.”

Whether or not Harris returns this season, Franklin offered a veteran name that could make a good fit with the All-Pro cornerback on the sidelines: Adam “Pacman” Jones.

“Don’t be surprised if you see ‘Pacman’ back here,” Franklin said.

Franklin, who called Harris’ injury a “huge blow,” said aside from losing the prolific pass defender, the Broncos now have an issue with depth at cornerback.

Franklin said it makes sense to bring in Jones, who played for Denver until he was released on Nov. 20, because of his familiarity with the Broncos defense.

“It’s a two-week learning curve, at least, to get those calls down and to have an opportunity. So, you don’t have a lot of options,” Franklin said.

Whether Denver brings back Jones, however, depends on the confidence the team has in second-year pro Brendan Langley, whom the team promoted from the practice squad on Nov. 21, and rookie Isaac Yiadom, Franklin said.

Franklins also said No. 2 cornerback Bradley Roby would likely have to step up fill in the top defensive back role.

“Bradley Roby has come on in the last couple of weeks and he’s going to have to be that rock for this team,” Franklin said.

In seven games for the Broncos, Jones played mostly in a returner role, starting just two games in that timespan.

In 11 games, all starts, Harris had three interceptions, one for a touchdown, to go with 10 passes defensed, 48 tackles, one sack and one tackle for loss.
