Schlereth bullish on Broncos schedule; ‘Why can’t we go on a run?’

Nov 19, 2018, 10:13 AM | Updated: 12:25 pm

Don’t look now, but following an upset win against the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday, the Denver Broncos sit just one game back of the final AFC wild card spot.

On Monday, “Schlereth and Evans” co-host Mark Schlereth said he doesn’t necessarily see the Broncos making a playoff run in 2018, but the win Sunday in Los Angeles could be a “turning point.”

“I mean, these things happen. These turnarounds happen,” Schlereth said. “Teams start to believe in their leadership. They start to believe in the people coaching them. They start to believe in one another. And who knows what can happen.”

Schlereth also said he can see “momentum” in Denver’s upcoming schedule, which features only two winning teams — the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Chargers.

“If they find a way to win against Pittsburgh at home, they’ve got a schedule that is very favorable for them to run off four or five straight wins,” Schlereth said.

Even if the Broncos can’t pull off another upset at home next week against the Steelers, Schlereth said the remaining games are all in play and could lead to an exciting finish to the season.

“Those are winnable games, all real winnable games. And you’re a game out of a wild card spot. The No. 6 seed,” Schlereth said. “Why not us? Why can’t we go on a run?
