Lindsay, Sutton give glimpse into future of Broncos offense vs. Chiefs

Not all was doom and gloom Sunday for the Denver Broncos.

Despite the 30-23 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, Broncos Country got a glimpse of what’s likely to be a pair of go-to players heading into the future: running back Phillip Lindsay and wide receiver Courtland Sutton.

“You saw something yesterday for the first time that you’re going to see a lot more here in the next call it a better part of a decade. And that’s Phillip Lindsay leading the Broncos in rushing and Courtland Sutton leading the Broncos in receiving,” said “Stokley and Zach” co-host Zach Bye on Monday.

Indeed, Sutton led all Denver players with 78 receiving yards against the Chiefs while Lindsay rushed the rock for a team-high 95 yards.

“I know things didn’t work out yesterday, but if you’re taking the long view, the 20,000-foot view, you have two dynamic players at some of the most important positions in football and it just looks like the Broncos have hit it out of the park,” Bye said.

And the success for the offensive rookies hasn’t been a flash in the pan either.

Heading into the game, Lindsay and Sutton, along with fellow rookie Royce Freeman, had combined for 1,131 yards from scrimmage, fifth best by a rookie duo or trio in the Super Bowl era.

“There’s a lot to be excited about with the young Broncos,” Bye said.
