Stokley: Win vs. Chiefs helps Broncos rectify off-field ‘distractions’

The monumental task of taking on one of the NFL’s top teams in the Kansas City Chiefs this weekend on the road has become just that much harder for the Denver Broncos this week because of off-field distractions.

Distractions that include the arrest, and subsequent release, of backup quarterback Chad Kelly, along with unflattering video of Broncos players at a Halloween party simulating cocaine use as part of their costumes.

However, on Wednesday, quarterback Case Keenum said the team has its focus on Chiefs this weekend.

“No matter what’s going on outside this building, there’s one goal in that locker room. There is one thing that everybody is worried about,” Keenum said. “We all have different things that we bring in our lives, personal lives, whatever it is. But there is one goal in that locker room and that’s beating the Chiefs this week.”

On Wednesday, “Stokley and Zach” co-host Brandon Stokley said the only way to “rectify” the actions of this week is to go out and get that win on the road against the 6-1 Chiefs.

“You need to use it as a rallying cry. It’s us against the world. And the only way you can put this to rest is to go out there and win a football game,” Stokley said. “And if you lose, guess what? The story is just going to continue.”

Stokley’s co-host, Zach Bye, said it would be a significant accomplishment should the Broncos come away with a road win on Sunday.

“You go and beat Kansas City in Kansas City, we’re not talking about blowing up the Broncos. You are 4-4 at the midway point with everything you wanted to accomplish still in front of you,” Bye said. “But you’ve got to go out and get the win.”
