Schlereth: If Chiefs blast Broncos, Vance Joseph’s on notice

Sep 27, 2018, 10:55 AM

On Monday, the Denver Broncos face perhaps one of its toughest tests of the season as they welcome in the undefeated, high-flying Kansas City Chiefs.

According to FiveThirtyEight.com, the Broncos are 4.5-point underdogs against the Chiefs, who have a 65 percent probability of winning.

But if instead of keeping it close or even pulling off a win Denver gets drubbed by Kansas City, “Schlereth and Evans” co-host Mark Schlereth said Thursday that head coach Vance Joseph will be put “on notice.”

“If they go out and get blasted, then do I think it’s time to change him? No,” Schlereth said. “Do I think he’s on notice? Absolutely. I think that’s the way it goes.”

The Broncos “rectified the draft class,” Schlereth said, with several rookies making significant contributions early in the season. And Denver went out and got its quarterback in Case Keenum.

With that being the case, the Broncos don’t have a leg to stand on in terms of excuses should they get blown out on Monday, Schlereth said.

“If you go out in these pivotal games and you get drug in pivotal games like you got drug last year, then that’s a trend,” Schlereth said.

On Wednesday, however, “The Drive” co-host Alfred “Big Al” Williams tossed aside the prognostications, saying that he likes the Broncos at home against pretty much any opponent.

“I like our chances against anybody in Mile High It’s a very, very unique home-field advantage,” Williams said.

Denver has history on its side against Kansas City as well, as they hold a 35-23 record (.603) all-time against the Chiefs at home, along with a 24-11-1 record all-time on Monday Night Football in the Mile High City.
