Report: Nuggets ink Isaiah Thomas to 1-year deal, trade Kenneth Faried

The Denver Nuggets have reportedly made a pair of moves late Thursday night that will alter its roster for the foreseeable future.

Per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Nuggets have signed guard Isaiah Thomas to a one-year deal worth the veteran minimum while also dealing forwards Kenneth Faried and Darrell Arthur to the Brooklyn Nets.

In what Wojnarowski reports will be a $21 million salary dump for the Nuggets, Denver will also send a 2019 protected first-round pick and a future second-rounder to Brooklyn in exchange for Isaiah Whitehead.

Thomas, who was dealt last season from the Cleveland Cavaliers to the Los Angeles Lakers in February, played in 32 games in 2017-’18, averaging 26.90 minutes, 15.2 points, and 4.8 assists per game.

Periodically the focus of trade rumors, Faried spent seven seasons with the Nuggets after being drafted by the organization in the first round of the 2011 NBA Draft. In 2017-’18, the forward played in just 32 games for Denver, starting only seven.

Arthur had been with the Nuggets since being traded by the Memphis Grizzlies on draft night in 2013, along with the 55th-overall pick, for Joffrey Lauvergn and Kosta Koufos.
