Case Keenum should lean on experience to create success with Broncos

New Denver Broncos starting quarterback Case Keenum told NFL Network’s “NFL Total Access” this week the biggest difference in how he played last season for the Minnesota Vikings and previous years is how he utilized his pro experience.

“I think I used my experience well. I’ve gotten better each year I’ve been in the league, and I intend to get better this year,” Keenum said.

And both Brandon Stokley and Zach Bye, hosts of “Stokley and Zach,” said Keenum needs to build upon a successful season in 2017 and utilize that experience in Denver.

Why did he get so much better in just last year? Where was that before? Well, obviously, he had some good pieces around him, but also it’s experience,” Stokley said Wednesday. “It’s all of the things that he’s gone through.

“It is learning how to play quarterback at the NFL level. It’s hard to do. He went to a good situation and, all of a sudden, he was the guy.”

Bye likened the Broncos current situation on offense to what the Vikings had last season, saying he expects Keenum to do more in 2018.

“Keenum, this year for the Broncos, I don’t think this situation is too dissimilar offensively … than what he had in Minnesota,” Bye said. “And I’m expecting the guy, Case Keenum, as he just told you, to be better because he has more experience.”\

With Keenum under center, the Vikings ranked 10th in the NFL last season in points scored (382) and 11th in total offense (5,710 yards).

Comparatively, Denver ranked 27th and 18th, respectively, in points (289) and total offense (5,185 yards) in 2017.
