Reports: Broncos re-sign LB Todd Davis; TE Virgil Green heads to LA

Mar 14, 2018, 2:41 PM | Updated: 2:44 pm

Following the departure of linebacker and special teams standout Corey Nelson, the Denver Broncos opted to retain middle linebacker Todd Davis, per multiple reports.

The Denver Post’s Nicki Jhabvala, who reported Nelson would sign with the Philadelphia Eagles on Tuesday, reports Davis and the Broncos agreed to a three-year deal worth $15 million, with $6 million in guarantees.

The news comes amid another report Wednesday afternoon from NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport that the Los Angeles Chargers have signed former Broncos tight end Virgil Green.

KUSA-TV’s Mike Klis reports that Green, who had been with the Broncos since being drafted in the seventh-round of the 2011 NFL Draft, received a three-year deal to join Denver’s AFC West division rival.

With Green’s departure, linebacker Von Miller remains the only player from the Broncos 2011 draft class still with the team.

Davis signed as an undrafted college free agent with the New Orleans Saints in 2014 and landed in Denver after being claimed off waivers in November of that season.

The linebacker became a full-time starter in 2016, starting 15 games that season and 14 in 2017. During his four seasons in the NFL, Davis has racked up 222 tackles, 1.5 sacks, two fumble recoveries and one forced fumble.
