The Drive with Big Al & DMac LIVE in studio! Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post joins the show to say the Rockies are likely moving on from Mark Reynolds this year at first base, and moving forward with Ryan McMahon similar to how they will be moving forward with Chris Iannetta over Jonathan Lucroy.
The guys talk Al vs Zach Bye one-on-one, and Mark Schlereth’s bench press challenge. Al brings up some teams that would pay LeVeon Bell after the Steelers place their franchise tag on Bell for the 2018 season. Al says Will Hernandez won’t slide into the second round of the draft, and DMac doesn’t know where Chris Cooley is getting his clues from about a possible 3-year offer with $91 million guaranteed to Kirk Cousins, courtesy of the Vikings. DMac asks Al about Von Miller dramatically begging Kirk Cousins to become a member of the Denver Broncos, and Al says there’s something not right about Cousins’ situation. Al says Kyle Sloter is currently the only QB under contract for the Vikings right now, and DMac asks Al’s favorite moments & memories from the Ed Hochuli era. Also, Jimmy Graham’s next destination. Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post joins the show to say the Rockies are likely moving on from Mark Reynolds this year at first base, and moving forward with Ryan McMahon similar to how they will be moving forward with Chris Iannetta over Jonathan Lucroy. Also, what to expect this season from Colorado’s young pitching staff & what Rockies player should see a spike over the next few years in jersey sales. Listen to the interview HERE!
Kirk Cousins’ latest tweet seems weird & needy to DMac, and Big Al says it’s still too early to eliminate any teams from the Cousins process. Also, DMac says its up in the air whether or not Cousins will go on tour. The guys go through some mock drafts that came out today, including Matt Millr of Bleacher Report & Daniel Jeremiah of NFL.com. DMac gauges Al’s thoughts about Josh Rosen dropping out of the top-10 in the draft, and the odds of Denver trading up to snag Josh Allen at No. 1 overall. Also, how many teams will pass on Saquon Barkley, Baker Mayfield as a top-5 pick and how AJ McCarron eases draft stress. Big Al explains why it will be hard for the Broncos not to consider Josh Allen in the draft, and how Denver can help out Allen with some RPO plays to begin with. Also, the guys figure out how many years it would take Denver to get back to the Super Bowl with Josh Allen & Josh McCown as the QBs. DMac highlights Regis vs Valor, and asks Al about Brock Osweiler’s big mistake leaving Denver. DMac says Brock didn’t think about the big picture, and was never respected in Houston or Cleveland. Big Al says you can’t knock Brock’s hustle, and he signed a good deal in Houston.
Big Al says he doesn’t want to see Nick Foles as a part of the picture unless the Broncos go out and get a coordinator that will work with him in lock-step. Al says keep Arizona in mind when considering where Foles will land, and DMac believes Chris Cooley’s report might be inaccurate. Also, Al decides if Josh Rosen is even on Denver’s radar. DMac apologizes to Peyton Manning, and Al says he was never optimistic about Kirk Cousins or Baker Mayfield coming to Denver. Also, why DMac is cool with missing out on Cousins, and why he thinks Baker Mayfield would be a good fit with the Broncos. DMac highlights Peyton Manning’s deal with Papa Johns, and explains why the great pizza battle will make the difference in landing Cousins in Denver. Also DMac says Emmanuel Sanders is a terrible teammate for tweeting about Kirk Cousins with Trevor Siemian still on the roster.
