The Drive with Big Al & DMac LIVE in studio! Baker Mayfield’s agent & current agent with Capital Sports Advisors, Tom Mills, joins the show to talk about the recent thoughts of John Elway at the NFL Scouting Combine, and what fixes can be made to NCAA recruiting. Cecil Lammey joins the show LIVE from the NFL Scouting Combine to say John Elway still has a lot of confidence in this Broncos team, and is still in ‘GO-for-it’ mode. Bob Kravitz joins the show to mention that teams don’t get the opportunity to draft in the top-5 that often, unless they are the Cleveland Browns.
Elway’s presser is broken down piece by piece. DMac asks Al about Elway’s comments regarding bringing Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders back, as well as Derek Wolfe despite his neck issue. The guys decide if Elway’s expectations are unrealistic, and Big Al says he is looking for someone with experience similar to Andy Reid. DMac breaks a story about Texas Wesleyan University, and a letter that was received by a Colorado recruit from Head Baseball Coach Mike Jeffcoat stating that Texas Wesleyan is not recruiting players from the state of Colorado due to players having trouble passing their drug test. Jeffcoat mentions Colorado’s ‘liberal politicians’ in the letter. Baker Mayfield’s agent & current agent with Capital Sports Advisors, Tom Mills, joins the show to talk about the recent thoughts of John Elway at the NFL Scouting Combine, and what fixes can be made to NCAA recruiting. Mills talks about Baker Mayfield’s confidence & the chip on his shoulder after walking on at Oklahoma. Also, apparently Baker is a giant compared to DMac & Al loves his swag. Cecil Lammey joins the show LIVE from the NFL Scouting Combine to say John Elway still has a lot of confidence in this Broncos team, and is still in ‘GO-for-it’ mode. Al asks Cecil for some comparisons to Saquon Barkley, and Cecil establishes the difference between speculation & reality. Cecil says freakish athletes will be on display at the combine. DMac asks Cecil about concern regarding Josh Rosen’s brand, and Cecil says Rosen has the best raw skill-set & Josh Allen has accuracy issues. We hear audio from Cecil’s interview with John Elway about Josh Rosen, and Cecil says the two QBs can get along & Elway is looking to make his next power move. Listen to the interview HERE! DMac dives further into the story out of Texas Wesleyan University after Head Baseball Coach Mike Jeffcoat sent an email to a Colorado recruit stating that the baseball program is not recruiting players from the state of Colorado due to failed drug tests in the past. DMac is appalled, mentioning that Jeffcoat even brought Colorado’s politicians into it, calling them ‘liberal.’ Bob Kravitz joins the show to mention that teams don’t get the opportunity to draft in the top-5 that often, unless they are the Cleveland Browns. Big Al asks Bob about the idea of Indy trading out of their No. 3 overall pick, and the guys agree what the Colts do in the draft will have a direct effect on the Broncos at No. 5. Also, Big Al wants Bob & Dmac to imagine a world in which the Broncos land both Kirk Cousins & Saquon Barkley. Listen to the interview HERE!
ELWAY PRESSER REPLAY – Big Al says it’s hard to figure out what happened in the Paxton Lynch process, and wonders why Lynch was never given a fair chance to put together a comeback story. DMac & Al react to John Elway’s presser, and DMac says there’s something about being a great salesperson. DMac tries to pump up Elway, and the guys decide if Elway was bluffing or being truthful today. Also, Al & DMac drill down just how much Elway would be willing to pay for Kirk Cousins.
