Von Miller, Aqib Talib only Broncos to earn 2018 Pro Bowl nod

Dec 19, 2017, 7:28 PM

For at least two Denver Broncos players, the 2017 season won’t end on New Year’s Eve against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Linebacker Von Miller and cornerback Aqib Talib were among the AFC players voted to the 2018 Pro Bowl on Jan. 28 in Orlando, Florida, with nose tackle Domata Peko Sr and Chris Harris Jr listed as alternates.

With the nod, Miller earns his sixth career Pro Bowl honor, now trailing just Randy Gradishar (7) Shannon Sharpe (7), Steve Atwater (8), Champ Bailey (8), and John Elway (9) all-time in franchise history.

For Talib, it’s his fifth selection, including the last four years as a member of the Broncos.

Though 14 games this season, Miller leads Denver with 10 sacks to go with his 53 tackles, three passes defensed and one forced fumble.

Talib joins Bailey and safety John Lynch as the only Broncos to make it to the Pro Bowl in each of his first four seasons with the team. He also matches Arizona Cardinals cornerback Patrick Peterson as the only two cornerbacks to get the nod in each of the last five seasons.

However, it is a down season for Denver in terms of the annual NFL all-star game. Should Peko and Harris not be used as alternates, it’ll be the first time since 2010 that the team sent no more than two players to the Pro Bowl.

Comparatively, the Broncos sent 11 players to the Pro Bowl following the 2014 season.

As soon as the news broke Tuesday night, both Talib and Miller took to social media to thank supporters and fans for their congratulations.
