Camo effect causes Broncos to ditch film of snowy Colts, Bills game

In case you didn’t see the Indianapolis Colts take on the Bills in Buffalo on Sunday, don’t worry. You’re not alone.

The wintery deluge of snow that dumped on New Era Field made for some incredible photos, and less than stellar football (just ask Adam Vinatierri), but it did not make it easy for the Denver Broncos to break down film of their opponent Thursday night.

“We tried to watch it but you can’t. You can’t see it. You can’t see numbers,” head coach Vance Joseph said of the tape on the Colts from Sunday’s game. “They’re wearing all white. It wasn’t worth watching.

“I watched about 15 plays and I couldn’t see anything. We pulled it out of our breakdown. We’re on a three-game break down which is right for us.”

At least there are two positive outlooks, though. One, Thursday night’s game will be played inside the cozy confines of Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.

And two, at least the Broncos didn’t have to watch Army, whose uniforms honoring 10th Mountain Division in Saturday’s annual Army-Navy game quite literally functioned as camouflage.

Broncos set to pop Thursday with Color Rush uniforms

Speaking of standing out, the all-orange Color Rush uniforms the Broncos will wear Thursday against the Colts were met with mixed reaction on Tuesday.

“I’m still the same short pumpkin,” running back C.J. Anderson said, laughing. “My mouthpiece color will be different, though. That’s a good thing. The mouthpiece color changed. Other than that, I’ll be a pumpkin and I’m trying to have a Cinderella night.”

Linebacker Von Miller, know to wear colorful outfits on occasion, unsurprisingly said he likes the Color Rush jerseys.

“Come on, it’s me,” Miller said, laughing. “I like it. Bright colors, I like it. The whole team orange, I think it looks great. Some of the color rush colors don’t look as dope as ours. It’s dope, you get to go out there in all orange and play in front of the world. It’s a wonderful night.”

However, his offensive counterpart, quarterback Trevor Siemian, did not share the same affection for the solid orange duds.

“I’m not crazy about them. I think we look like human traffic cones out there,” Siemian said. There was a time this year they didn’t give me a jersey in my locker, so I’ll take it. As long as there’s a jersey in my locker, I’m good.”

One thing Miller, Siemian, Anderson, and others seemed to agree upon, however, is the throwback helmet decal featuring the Broncos former “D” logo.

“I love those helmets,” Joseph said. “That’s my son’s favorite logo. That’s what he still wears.”
