Word is spreading about Deshaun Watson’s ACL injury, and after DMac hears that Brock Osweiler organized a meeting with Broncos teammates, he confirms with Al that Trevor not putting together a passing camp was a big deal in the offseason. DMac says Brock gets it now, and despite the grief he gives Emmanuel Sanders, Sanders is a freaky athlete regardless. Al says Sanders is happy all over again, and it’s clear everyone is excited about the change at QB. Dmac says the Dodgers are set up for long-term success, and that could be bad news for the Colorado Rockies. Kelvin Bejamin lands in Buffalo, and Cam Newton is not happy about it. DMac says things will get tricky for Christian McCaffrey, and the guys talk about successful rookies in the NFL. DMac says pitchers hitting is silly, and Big Papi & A-Rod are a fantastic tandem on the postgame show. Dmac makes fun of Menelik Watson’s proposal compared to Carlos Correa’s after Game 7 of the World Series, and says Menelik can step it up a bit.
Al & DMac discuss the moment of Bennie Fowler’s career, and how he could have been remembered. The guys agree the only reason Siemian won the job the last couple years is because he’s better than Paxton Lynch. Big Al wonders if the Broncos gave up a young star when they waived Kyle Sloter. Andrew Luck is likely done for the season, and the guys debate if the Colts should offer refunds to season ticket holders with Luck going down. Al & DMac try to figure out who will back up Savage now that Watson is out, and nothing has changed, the Broncos would be alright, alright alright if they had 22 Janos. Also, callers say John Elway has struggled in drafting offensive players, and Al searches to find the solid playmakers Elway has landed, like Ronnie Hillman & Virgil Green.
Dmac says Emmanuel Sanders will be playing for a long time, and after his football career, he is set up for a transition into television. Big Al says the NFL is relentlessly a copy-cat league & the best things Denver does are run the ball & get it to DT & E Sanders. Also, AL says he expects Brock to value the starting QB job the second time around. Al says the Eagles spent extreme capital on their defensive line, and their front seven will be the best we’ve seen. With tremendous edge players, Al says the Eagles are stacked along the defensive front.
