Pritchard says a ‘simple’ fix could help the Broncos offensive woes

NFL teams don’t respect what the Denver Broncos do offensively, specifically how Trevor Siemian can’t beat them with his arm along, according to Mike Pritchard.

Coming off arguably one of Denver’s most potent upset losses in recent history, the “Pritchard & Cecil” co-host said what’s showing up now is defenses have answers for the Broncos offensive tendencies.

But Pritchard said on Monday he has a potential fix for the Broncos offensive woes: ‘Simplify the game.”

On Sunday, the New York Giants forced two interceptions — one for a touchdown — and a fumble recovery on two forced fumbles on the way to a 23-10 win on Sunday Night Football.

Despite gaining a season-high 412 yards against the Giants — thanks in part to quarterback Trevor Siemian’s 29-of-50 passing for 376 yards —the Broncos scored a season-low 10 points.

Playing from behind much of the game, Denver also only rushed for a season-low 46 yards.

“On top of being talented, which we knew about the Giants, now you’re seeing the scheme come back and hurt Denver,” Pritchard said. “You’re getting away from dictating. You’re getting away from … you have so much competition in the running back room — three guys — but yet you go away from that.”

Pritchard said he gets the strategy of the Broncos trying to remain balanced, but Siemian passing 50 times on Sunday was far from that.

“You have a quarterback playing unbalanced football. He’s turning the ball over and he’s donating points,” Pritchard said.

Also on Monday, “Schlereth & Evans” co-host Mark Schlereth said the Broncos could “keep fighting and figure it out” but the offense needs to rally behind its quarterback.

“You can’t have your quarterback going out there throwing 50 times,” Schlereth said. “If he has to throw 50 times, you’re going to lose every game.”

Pritchard’s fix? Get back to “dictating” and “simplify the game, just like the Giants did.”

“The Giants beat the Denver Broncos with a simplistic game plan offensively,” Pritchard said.
