Cris Carter: Broncos can win Super Bowl with Trevor Siemian at QB

With chances of winning Super Bowl LII ranked by experts among the middle of the NFL pack, saying the Denver Broncos could win a world championship isn’t shocking, necessarily, but not exactly the norm.

But Fox Sports 1 NFL analyst Cris Carter isn’t the norm.

Joining “Schlereth & Evans” on Thursday, Carter said that not only could the Broncos be “one of the surprise teams in the 2017 season” but could very well win a Super Bowl on the arm, literally, of Trevor Siemian.

“I think Denver can still win the Super Bowl with Trevor,” Carter said. “And the reason why is because I like his arm strength. It’s not an overpowering arm, but he can make the throws that you need to make.”

Carter, however, had hesitation when it comes to Siemian’s ability to stay healthy.

“What I saw from him, not only in the games but looking at the film, he has all the attributes to be a starter in the league. But he’s not a big guy. So, you can’t get him hurt,” Carter said.

“A lot of those injuries, they’re traumatic not from when you might recover, but they’re traumatic as far as your brain. Eventually, you get a little gun-shy.”

Siemian was replaced by then-rookie Paxton Lynch on two occasions last season due to injury and underwent surgery in January to repair a separated shoulder on his non-throwing arm.

However, Carter said he thinks Siemian can get “beyond that” and make Denver fans “very, very happy.”
