Temporarily Replacing Paxton: The Drive 8/28/17

The Drive with Big Al & DMac LIVE in studio! Adam Schefter joins the show to discuss another QB the Broncos may be looking at bringing in, and Adam says keep a close eye on the QBs that have previously worked with Bill Musgrave. Cecil Lammey joins the show to say the Broncos will likely have to keep three QBs on the active roster now that Paxton Lynch is injured, and Denver is in a real bind now that Kyle Sloter must be considered to make the 53-man roster.

Dmac asks Al how everyone in Houston is doing, and Al says we must take into account all the families affected by natural disasters such as Hurricane Harvey. Would Al rather have Colin Kaepernick or Kyle Sloter? Al tells DMac he thinks the Broncos might hate Sloter. Big Al tells DMac he would take Kyle Sloter over a veteran, and DMac says Mayweather had an easier time with McGregor than he normally does with any other boxer. The guys discuss the issue between Todd Davis & Aqib Talib on Saturday, and Al says that is not something you want to see. Adam Schefter joins the show to discuss another QB the Broncos may be looking at bringing in, and Adam says keep a close eye on the QBs that have previously worked with Bill Musgrave. Schefter tells Al & DMac if anything happens to Siemian, that’s when alarms will start going off at Broncos headquarters, and Colin Kaepernick would be looking at a Jamaal Charles-type of deal in Denver. Al & DMac try to come up with a way Kyle Sloter makes the team, and Al tells everyone why it’s so important for Paxton to stay off the ground. Cecil Lammey joins the show to say the Broncos will likely have to keep three QBs on the active roster now that Paxton Lynch is injured, and Denver is in a real bind now that Kyle Sloter must be considered to make the 53-man roster. Cecil says the Broncos have a tough task sneaking talent through cut-downs, and Shelby Harris has been even more impressive than Adam Gotsis after bouncing around the NFL. Listen to the interview HERE! Dmac says it’s not the same watching Siemian & Sloter, after coming off watching Peyton Manning, Jay Cutler & Jake Plummer out at Broncos practice. DMac asks Al if Emmanuel Sanders is trying hard enough, tells Paxton he needs to be passing in the preseason because that’s what he needs to work on the most, and callers agree with him. Paxton’s trade value is debated, and Siemian is one of the lowest-paid starting QBs in the NFL. Also, the guys argue over bringing in a veteran quarterback.

VJ says every option will be considered when it comes to emergency QB in Denver, and DMac tells Al it felt like he was watching a circus over the weekend, with some Broncos not focused on the game. Al says he misses the Peyton Manning approach to the preseason. A list of all the Broncos players that don’t have a shot at making the 53-man roster, and the guys take calls on the Broncos locker room being in disarray. DMac says he has respect for Todd Davis, and brings up all the times Aqib Talib has had problems in the locker room. Al doesn’t want this to be a negative, but DMac is quick to remind him of Brian Griese’s opinion about the Broncos & that Elway and John Lynch are best friends. Also, DMac catches John Elway in multiple lies about Paxton Lynch. Lastly, Cutler or Romo as an option in Denver.
