LBs Marshall, Davis join list of Broncos who won’t play vs. 49ers

Aug 19, 2017, 4:45 PM

As a precaution, Denver Broncos linebackers Brandon Marshall and Todd Davis will reportedly not play in Saturday’s preseason tilt with the San Francisco 49ers.

Mike Klis of 9News reports that Corey Nelson and Zaire Anderson are expected to start at inside linebacker in place of Marshall (ribs) and Davis (shoulder).

Head coach Vance Joseph said on Thursday that Marshall developed a rib contusion after the first day of joint practices at the 49ers facility in Santa Clara.

“He’s fine, just being smart,” Joseph said.

Several other key players have also been ruled out against the San Francisco, Joseph said on Thursday, including center Matt Paradis, running back Jamaal Charles, and defensive end DeMarcus Walker.

Klis also reports that linebacker Von Miller and wide receivers Emmanuel Sanders and Cody Latimer will not play.

Linebacker Shane Ray, defensive ends Derek Wolfe and Jared Crick, and safety T.J. Ward had already been ruled out before the team’s trip to San Francisco.
