The plan for Day 1 of the joint practices between the Denver Broncos and San Francisco 49ers from Santa Clara, California, had always been to feature quarterback Paxton Lynch with the first team offense.
After practice, Lynch said he felt the practice went “pretty well and that the team came out “with the right mindset.”
“I’m just coming out here trying to get better every day. That’s been my mindset, and I was excited to come out here against a different defense and see what I can do with the ones instead of going against our guys every day,” Lynch said.
“I was excited for the opportunity to go against those guys, and I think we did a good job.”
Trevor Siemian, who worked primarily with the twos against the 49ers on Wednesday, also said he felt “pretty good” about his day against another team despite not being as “clean” as he wanted.
“I don’t think they’re trying to protect you as much on the other side. So, you feel it a little more, which is good. It’s good for us as quarterbacks,” Siemian said. “It’s good to go through that. Other than that, it’s the same game.”
Lynch said it was “pretty different” going against another team and seeing looks he hadn’t seen.
“From your guys, it’s a little different look, so like I said, it’s something that you go through it and then you go after practice and watch the tape of it and you get a little bit of a better understanding,” Lynch said. “You kind of can formulate a plan after that, but I thought we did an alright job today.
“Obviously, we’re going to get better as the week progresses.”
