The Drive with Big Al & DMac LIVE in studio! Trevor Siemian starts to pull away today out at Dove Valley, and the Rockies get set for a Coors Field showdown against the Phillies. Isaiah McKenzie joins the show to tell the guys about when it hit him coming out of Georgia. DMac asks Isaiah about the process of building a relationship with the young Broncos QBs and Isaiah tells the guys he loves to do his job, so his plan is to make the quarterbacks look good & catch everything thrown his way. Coach Mike Shanahan joins the show to talk about going with Big Al to see Terrell Davis be inducted into the Hall of Fame.
DMac asks head official Walt Coleman what constitutes a flag & the guys discuss no more commercial breaks after kickoffs & between scores. DMac says comparing pros to college is apples & oranges, and Big Al mentions Red Zone as a reason ratings are down. Al says all these rule changes would have been nice when he played, and mentions taking the kickoff out of the NFL completely & starting at the 25 or declaring an onside kick. DMac tells Al a story of Brandon McManus kicking a 74-yard FG. Al wonders if Paxton & Trevor are mentally tough enough to overcome their mistakes, and it will be weird seeing Jay Cutler play for the Miami Dolphins. Also, the fire alarm goes off and Big Al & DMac try to stay focused.
Another great day for Isaiah McKenzie, and the guys switch teams over to Team Trevor, noting how Trevor has managed to make all the throws & reads in the past couple days at camp. Al mentions Trevor needs to take the next step this year, but has been impressive. Al says it’s an emotional game, and he is an emotional guy, but NFL players must learn to fight through tough times & the Broncos must start preparing for Chicago. Al knows you can’t fool the team, because they are aware which QB is the right guy for the job. Derek Wolfe takes a shot at The Fan when referencing the big holes in the Broncos run defense, and says more tackles would be made if they were LIVE reps. Also, just how excited is Big Al for Terrell Davis’ HOF induction & seeing all his old Broncos friends.

DMac mentions the extra gear to McKenzie, and Isaiah says he’s not sure when it turns on, but he’s thankful for it when he’s going to get the ball. Also, the focus turns to McKenzie’s pride in special teams work & worrying about making plays or getting cut, and Al asks him why he picked that ugly number 84 to switch to. Listen to the interview HERE! Coach Mike Shanahan joins the show to talk about going with Big Al to see Terrell Davis be inducted into the Hall of Fame. Shanahan tells DMac he can be the pilot, and DMac asks Mike about the budding relationship between him and all his old players becoming close friends now. Al asks Mike about watching one of his guys go into the HOF, and Shanahan compares the experience to watching his kids. Shanahan tells DMac he now realizes the mistake he made in not starting Bubby Brister & letting the best man win between Brister & Griese. Also, Big Al asks Mike about being a longtime member of the Denver community, and Shanahan says it’s like a dream to look back on. Listen to the interview HERE!
