The Drive with DMac & Chad Brown LIVE in studio! Jon Gray hits a home run to the shock of DMac, and Chad laughs about the McKee family bond after DMac guarantees a Jon Gray strikeout. The guys debate if anyone held Elway’s hand along the way when he was first starting out as Broncos’ GM. Chad says you need a top-flight QB regardless of whether you’re a coach or a GM.
DMac sadly realizes over the 4th of July that he is no longer cool to his son, and tells Chad about his trip to Coors Field with the family. Nolan Arenado gets a much-needed break, after committing an uncommon error in the game at Coors last night. Chad doesn’t think Melo makes anyone a championship team by himself, and tells DMac he wouldn’t care if Melo went to Cleveland. DMac says Melo would be a great addition to the Cavs, and is upset about missing QUEEN at Pepsi Center tonight. Also, The guys debate if anyone held Elway’s hand along the way when he was first starting out as Broncos’ GM.
The guys debate if John Elway will ever own the Denver Broncos, and DMac tells Chad there are other things going on here & the Broncos organization will move on without Elway. The Rockies will have to struggle to a NL Wild Card appearance, and DMac wonders how many wins the wild-card teams were able to scratch together last season. Chad wants DMac to convince him that this year’s Rockies are different from seasons’ past.
Callers have their takes on the Rockies doing anything for excitement & fun, and remind DMac & Chad that Trevor Story needs to get on base more & stop striking out. DMac asks Chad how many reps an All-Star like Charlie Blackmon needs before the HR Derby, and Chad laughs when DMac says anyone can play left field. Carlos Gonzalez continues to baffle fans and the media, and the guys debate what CarGo can do to pull himself out of this slump. Also, how much longer can the Rockies afford to let Trevor Story struggle at the plate & avoid getting their every-day starters some rest, and Big Sexy asks the fellas Who Ya Got between the Diamondbacks & Dodgers tonight in L.A.
