The Drive with Big Al & DMac LIVE from Blake Street Tavern. Big Al talks about being afraid to pitch at Coors Field & Kyle Freeland as a top prospect. Eaglecrest’s Tory Humphrey joins the show to talk about coaching Kyle Freeland at TJ. Pedro Gomez of ESPN joins Big Al & DMac to say we must take baseball in 20 and 40-game increments. The guys hear from Bud Black in postgame and go inside the clubhouse after the win to talk with Jake McGee.
Big Al gets emotional about his Super Bowl memories and DMac compares them to Kyle Freeland and his family on Opening Day. Big moments only come by every once in a while, and Al mentions how some moments can be bittersweet. Al brings up the Masters & says all majors are not a gimmick. Advertising is part of it, but pink balls are over the top. Eaglecrest’s Tory Humphrey joins the show to talk about coaching Kyle Freeland at TJ. Coach Humphrey says they are proud of Kyle like parents, and they are excited for all this new success. DMac says it could be an awesome sports day in Denver, and it’s all part of the process with this young Nuggets team. Big Al says Jamal Murray is an All-Star, and the bigs in today’s game can get lost. Al wanted Mudiay to take steps that he hasn’t, and DMac tells him to keep an eye on Gordon Hayward. Pedro Gomez of ESPN joins Big Al & DMac to say we must take baseball in 20 and 40-game increments. The Brewers are not a contending club, and it’s still extremely early in the season, but the excitement with Bud Black is obvious. Gomez highlights how Black is a seasoned manager with a reputation, which is perfect for a young team trying to build something. Also, the difference a manager like Black makes in the clubhouse. Head coach of the DU Pioneer hockey team Jim Montgomery joins the show to say nobody meant more to their team than Will Butcher, and no one will remember this year’s Pioneers if they don’t win. The Pioneers know what they’re getting themselves into with Minnesota-Duluth. DMac asks Al what his over-under for Rockies wins is this year, and Al’s attention to the Masters trends down today as he was totally focused on Opening Day.
