The Drive with Big Al & DMac LIVE in studio. Cecil Lammey joins the show to talk about the nastiness & aggressiveness the Broncos are looking for up front, and how important it is for Ron Leary & Menelik Watson to stay healthy. Cecil mentions the noticeable difference in Kelvin Beachum and Ryan Clady, and hopes Beachum can return to form because Clady does not fit a smash scheme. Tyler Polumbus joins the show & says there’s not a ton of film or opportunity to analyze Menelik Watson, but he’s got a strong punch and he plays big.
The Tony Romo saga continues. Slobber-knockers & maulers continue to be stockpiled up front, including Menelik Watson & Ron Leary. Al says Broncos can’t depend on Vance Walker & it’s too soon to judge Gotsis. The guys get Ron Leary’s thoughts on being a Denver Bronco, and DMac asks what if Denver traded picks with Dallas. Re-making the offensive line continues, but Big Al says there is more work to be done. Al says the Broncos will take care of the O-Line by the draft, and makes comparisons between some of the Broncos lineman and Doug Free. The coaching staff must be better than letting guys like Schofield get burned by Mack, and a caller notes that this feels a lot like Donald Stephenson coming in last year. Tyler Polumbus joins the show & says there’s not a ton of film or opportunity to analyze Menelik Watson, but he’s got a strong punch and he plays big. Tyler says it was interesting hearing Watson & Leary’s comments about toughness and attitude, but their combined missed time is concerning. Listen to the interview HERE!
Al says if Paxton isn’t the guy, why would the Broncos keep him around. DMac agrees the Broncos need some grit, and the best name left just might be Ryan Clady. Al says this is what Elway does, and even though he misses in the draft, he’s lights-out in free agency. The guys laugh at the thought of D.J. Fluker in Denver, and Al thinks the Broncos will be fine on the offensive line by the time training camp starts. Also, who all was eating lunch at the Broncos training facility today.
