Broncos OL Russell Okung taken from stadium by ambulance

Denver Broncos offensive tackle Russell Okung left Qualcomm Stadium by ambulance shortly after the team’s bout with the San Diego Chargers on Thursday night.

Okung experienced concussion-like symptoms after the game, according to Broncos vice president of public relations Patrick Smyth, and was taken to an area hospital for further evaluation.

However, about an hour later (10:30 p.m. local time), Smyth said Okung was released and cleared to return to Denver Thursday night.

The incident comes just days after Broncos head coach Gary Kubiak left Sports Authority Field at Mile High by ambulance following Denver’s loss to the Atlanta Falcons.

At the time, Kubiak was reported to have been suffering “flu-like symptoms.” After spending a night in a Denver-area hospital, it was revealed that doctors diagnosed Kubiak with a complex migraine.

With the illness, Kubiak did not travel with his team to San Diego for Thursday’s game, instead staying back in Denver recuperating. He’s expected to rejoin the team Monday.

Special team coordinator Joe DeCamillis filled the interim head coach role.
