Broncos DeMarcus Ware suffers forearm fracture in win vs. Colts

The same Denver Broncos defense that sealed a 34-20 win against the Indianapolis Colts Sunday may have suffered a significant loss.

Linebacker DeMarcus Ware could be sidelined at least a couple of weeks after head coach Gary Kubiak said he suffered a forearm fracture in the third quarter.

“I think the question is going to be: Can he (play with it)? Is it something that me might be able to play with that you rest or something that we go fix right away, he misses a period of time and then comes back?” Kubiak said.

Ware suffered the injury early in the second half when he collided with teammate Von Miller while attempting to tackle luck. The veteran left the field and did not return, but Miller said after the game he believe his pass-rushing partner in crime will be back soon.

“I feel like D-Ware, he’s battle some injuries. He’ll be right back though,” Miller said after the game. “That’s just the type of pro that he is. He’ll be able to fight through it. He’ll be right back.”

Kubiak said the team will know more of the extent of Ware’s injury Monday morning and whether he can play with it or if it’s “something that has to be fixed.”

Through three quarters Sunday, Ware had a quarterback hit and a half sack, to bring his two-game total to 2 sacks. In his first season in Denver (2014), Ware did not miss a regular season game but missed 5 in 2015.

Aside from Ware, Kubiak said there’s two other players beside Ware – tackle Donald Stephenson and tight end Virgil Green – that they had concerns about regarding injuries.

Both Green and Stephenson suffered calf injuries.

“Obviously a tough day from that standpoint, but we found aw ay to get (win) No. 2,” Kubiak said.
