Schefter: If Las Vegas stadium is built, Raiders could land there

It looks as if Denver Broncos fans can soon start booking tickets to Sin City once a year, as the Oakland Raiders seemingly will end up in Las Vegas should public funding be secured for a stadium.

The plan cleared a major obstacle Thursday, according to a report from ESPN.com, when the Southern Nevada Tourism Infrastructure Committee unanimously voted recommend $750 millions in public funding to help pay for a 65,000-seat dome stadium.

The recommendation comes after the Raiders filed trademarks to the phrase “Las Vegas Raiders” late last month, according to a report from ESPN Senior Writer Darren Rovell.

The project still needs to go through the Nevada state legislature and governor, and any move by an NFL organization would need approval by three-fourths of the team owners.

However, ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter, on with “C.J. and Stokley” Friday on 104.3 The Fan, said he believes if those funds get approved and all hurdles are cleared to build a stadium, the Raiders will land in Sin City.

“Again, there are more steps that have to take place, but if that stadium gets built, there will be a football team there,” Schefter said.
