8/16/16 – Mike is back at UCHealth Training Center for the last week of Champ Camp and is joined by Mark live from ESPN HQ; How does Vance Walker’s injury affect the Broncos defense?; Patrick Saunders joins the show to talk about the slumping Rockies; Super Bowl champ Tyler Polumbus; Broncos Insider Mike Klis and our Fan Insider Cecil Lammey also join the show.
The show starts with Mike and Mark talking about D-lineman Vance Walker’s knee injury yesterday on a very routine looking play. How do these injuries not happen more and where does the Broncos defense turn to after this. The guys believe the Broncos are more equipped to deal with these defensive injuries than most teams in the league. Our QB leaderboard featuring sound from ESPN’s Adam Schefter saying he expects to see Paxton Lynch this season, the guys disagree. Morning Brew featuring the Vance Walker injury, Emmanuel Sanders and Chris Harris Jr camp fight and fans calling plays. Our Rockies insider Patrick Saunders came on to talk about why the Rockies are struggling so much this month. Patrick thinks the bullpen is the main culprit of the recent woes.
Hour two kicked off with Mark’s “Clear the Air” segment, today the topic was camp injuries. With Vance Walker out for the season, who steps up next for the Broncos. Crick, Sly Williams, who else? Mark says that there is so much depth on this Denver defense that they can handle it. He also brings up rookie Adam Gotsis as a person that can fill in for the injured Walker. Super Bowl champ Tyler Polumbus joined the guys to talk about the depth on this team, and who he thinks is in the lead with our QB leaderboard. 4 Down Territory featured Vance Walker; two Broncos Pro Bowler’s getting into it at camp; the NFL’s PED investigation and the Titans letting fans call preseason plays. Mike then peppers Stink with a bunch of texts to end the hour.
The final hour of the show kicks off with our “Question Mark” segment. Then switch gears with our Broncos Insider Mike Klis talking about the defensive depth and losing a starter like Vance Walker, Ronnie Hillman’s battle with Kapri Bibbs for a roster spot, and Pat Bowlen’s impending induction to the NFL Hall of Fame as a contributor. Cecil Lammey then joined the show to talk more on the latest at UC Health Training Center including Demarcus Ware resuming light workouts at Champ Camp, and when will we see full Von Miller unleashed. Cecil also thinks Trevor Siemian should be the starter as of now.
