Peyton Manning on Brandon Stokley, golfing and camp camaraderie

As Peyton Manning joined 104.3 The Fan’s “C.J. and Stokley” Thursday afternoon, he was hopping in the car. Destination: the bank, and then a 3:30 p.m. tee time with the show’s co-host, and former teammate, Brandon Stokley.

“… [T]hat’s going to be easy money,” Manning joked.

The playful jabs of longtime friends clearly haven’t faded.

Manning and Stokley go way back, to the first Manning Passing Academy 20 years ago, when the future Hall of Fame first met the then-college wide receiver.

They roomed together for four years during training camp in Indianapolis.

They played together for both the Colts and the Broncos.

“He’s my main man. He’s my buddy,” Manning said. “We’ve been friends for a long time.”

Just don’t bring up that time when the “dice were lucky,” and Stokley ended up “kind of getting into my pocket a little big.”

Manning paid up using his per diem check.

“He blames me because he says he didn’t catch one pass the rest of the week,” Manning said. “He was covered. He was not open. I do not hold grudges like that. I paid him that day.”
